Rules and Regulations

Study system

  1. The university's educational system is based on the premise that the student is a seeker of knowledge, actively pursuing it, and taking personal responsibility and individual leadership in self-directed learning to achieve academic progress and pass required courses and exams. This necessitates a new vision of the learner's role in higher education. The university also offers a modern education system that integrates technology into teaching and learning processes, thus positioning the instructor's role as one of guidance, motivation, and facilitation for the student's learning journey.
  2. The university relies on a blended e-learning system, which requires in-person attendance for 25%–33% of lectures, including midterms and finals, in the region where the student is registered. The remaining 66%–75% is distributed among attending interactive virtual classes, educational forums, and regularly engaging with digital learning content.
  3. Commitment to attending a minimum of 12 hours per week in the English language course through the Oxford system, including interactive activities and virtual classes.
  4. New students in the first year of the common program are not entitled to request the following academic actions: (semester withdrawal, semester deferral, course withdrawal). *The University Council may grant exceptions to this condition if there are compelling reasons.

Requirements for passing the first common year

  1. To pass the first common year, success in the five required courses is required: (English language, mathematics, computer skills, academic skills, and communication skills).
  2. To have the English language course credited, a score of 83 or higher on the STEP test, or 5.5 or higher on the IELTS test, is required.
Students who do not achieve the required score will not be admitted to the academic programs offered by the university.
If a student does not achieve the required score, the minimum required score will be lowered to:
    • (60) in the STEP test or (4) in the IELTS test plus (23) marks for coursework.
    • For students majoring in English Language and Translation: (65) in the STEP test or (4.5) in the IELTS test, plus (18) marks for coursework.
  3. To pass the remaining courses of the first common year (Mathematics, Computer Science, Academic Skills, and Communication Skills), a score of 60% of the total course grade is required.
  4. The student is required to complete all the common first-year courses with a total of (26) hours before registering for any major course.
  5. The grade for the English language course is not included in the cumulative GPA and is dealt with on a pass/fail basis only, while the grades for the rest of the courses are included in the cumulative GPA.
  6. If a student fails three or more courses in the first year common course, he is considered to have failed the entire year and his registration with the university is cancelled.
  7. If a student fails one or two courses during the first and second semesters of the first year of study, the student is given the opportunity to repeat them during the summer semester through virtual classes and interaction with electronic systems without direct attendance.
  8. If a student does not pass the requirements of the first common year during the summer semester, he is considered to have failed and his registration with the university is cancelled.
  9. Students who fail the English language course will register for the course in the summer semester with (8) credit hours instead of (16) credit hours, while the fees for the rest of the courses will be paid as usual.
  10. The hours are calculated for the English language course, but the course grade is not added to the GPA. In the first semester, it is recorded with the code (IP), while in the second semester, it is recorded with one of the following codes:
    • (NP): Passed without a grade
    • (NF): Failed without a grade
Passing the course is a requirement for registering for all major courses.
