Study Plan

Study plan for the first common year

The study plan for the first common year is designed to cover the necessary basic skills, and its courses are distributed over two semesters with (13) credit hours for the first semester and (13) credit hours for the second semester of the academic year. This is equivalent to (26) actual hours. The table below shows the approved study plan:

Course descriptions

1. English language skills

This course aims to enhance and develop students' abilities in the five core English language skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar. The course includes a range of activities that address these skills by covering fundamentals such as sentence patterns, verb tenses, auxiliary sentences, answering questions, symbols, and conditional clauses. It also focuses on constructing simple sentences and using comparisons between adjectives and adverbs.

 

2. Computer Basics

This course provides a comprehensive overview of computing fundamentals by focusing on five key areas of information technology: applications, systems, development, data, and communications. It aims to develop students' understanding of core IT concepts and enable them to apply these concepts effectively in planning and analysis. The course also includes practical applications, explains computer hardware and software components, and provides thorough coverage of application software.

 

3. Introduction to Mathematics

This course provides a comprehensive review of the fundamentals of mathematics, focusing on arithmetic and algebraic skills, and developing logical reasoning and mathematical inference skills. Topics covered include: linear equations, polynomial functions and their graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions, equations and inequalities, linear programming, series, number systems, permutations, combinations, and probability.

 

4. Communication skills

This course aims to develop students' communication skills and abilities, thereby enhancing their self-confidence and effective communication with others. It focuses on developing cognitive and social communication skills, and fostering harmonious and respectful interaction with the human and social environment through the competencies of receiving and producing communication messages.

 

5. Academic skills

This course focuses on empowering students to manage themselves and achieve excellence and creativity by acquiring tools and strategies for thinking, learning, and scientific research. It covers research tools and knowledge organization, self-learning skills, presentation techniques, and modern e-learning strategies, thereby enhancing academic competence in modern educational environments.

The study plan was designed to cover the basic skills required for students majoring in Law and Digital Media during one semester, and its courses were combined into one semester with (13) credit hours for the second semester of the academic year. The table below shows the approved study plan.

The course includes a range of activities that address these skills by covering the following fundamentals: basic sentence patterns, various grammar rules, verb conjugations, auxiliary sentences, answering questions, symbols used in the language, and conditional sentences. In addition, this course will focus on constructing and using simple sentences, and comparing adjectives and adverbs.

 

2- Computer Basics

This course aims to provide an overview of computing fundamentals, focusing on the five core areas of information technology: applications, systems, development, data, and communication. It helps students develop a grasp of basic IT concepts and empowers them to effectively utilize IT for planning and analysis through practical application using available technologies and tools. The course also clarifies the fundamental concepts of computer systems and information technology, demonstrating optimal methods for using computers and exploring software applications. It provides information on computer hardware components and their functions, as well as detailed information covering application software.

 

3- Academic skills

This course aims to help students manage themselves, their abilities, and their potential in a way that leads to success, excellence, and creativity. It equips them with a range of research strategies and tools, as well as effective learning and thinking techniques. The course also includes the use of a series of practical and strategic tools that help students acquire, organize, and quickly recall knowledge, and prepare and present scientific research. Furthermore, it aims to enhance their self-learning tools, strategies, and methods, as well as their learning tools and strategies within e-learning environments.

 

4- Communication skills

This course aims to help students develop effective attitudes, skills, and methods for communicating with themselves, enhancing self-confidence, improving interpersonal communication, and fostering harmonious, respectful, effective, and safe integration into their social and human relationships. This is achieved by strengthening their cognitive, social, receptive, and productive communication competencies.

 

5- Introduction to Mathematics

This course aims to provide a comprehensive review of the fundamentals of mathematics, focusing on developing numerical and algebraic arithmetic skills, as well as higher-order thinking skills for solving vital and social problems. It also develops mathematical and logical reasoning skills in dialogue and discussion. The course covers the following topics: quadratic linear equations, polynomial functions and their graphs, exponential and logarithmic functions, equations and inequalities, linear programming, series, sets, number systems, permutations, combinations, and probability.
